shayakhmetovAdil Shayakhmetov has been appointed the new head of Kazakhstan's intelligence agency, the National Security Committee (KNB), replacing Amangeldy Shabdarbayev.

 

 

 

Shayakhmetov, a KNB veteran, served at the deputy head of the agency prior to the appointment. Shabdarbayev has been named an advisor to President Nazarbayev.

No official reason was given for the reshuffle.
